Why I Will Still Vote Republican

I have to admit, I was beginning to be swayed by the soft crooning voices the media has drowned me with the past 8 years. Hillary "postponing" her campaign raised an eyebrow, I admit, seeing waves of still unresolved loyalties across the Democratic party. And I have to admit, Obama does not offend me. Privately (because no one reads this) I like him. McCain has always seemed to me a bit of a loose canon, not even confined to the standard party lines. So if ever there was a chance of me voting for a Democratic candidate, it was in this election. That was before today.

Today, I received my standard Wall Street Journal update about a little constitutional issue resolved by our supreme high court. Surprising, as I write this, the story has been buried below the Exxon Valdez ruling that also came out of our brilliant legal minds today. The gist is simple. Louisiana, it seems, has a law on the books that designates the rape of a child as an offense punishable by death. As many of our violent criminals in this country can attest to, this is the most heinous of all crimes, and can lead a victim to a life full of problems and issues. The liberal justices of the Supreme Court have classified this law as "cruel and unusual punishment" and have thus struck down the law. The conservative justices voted against this move. The justification for this ruling? That since no one was killed, the punishment shouldn't be "worse" than the crime. There you have it. According to the supreme high liberal in this land, the rape of a child is not as bad a crime as murder. The message to the nation, of course, is that not only is rape a lesser offense, but so it is against a child. In this day and age, our supreme wisdom still does not see that psychological harm is just as bad, if not worse, than physical harm.

So here I am, solid in my conviction that I will vote for any Republican, and every Republican in the upcoming election. Until these liberals are off the bench, criminals will have more rights than our "free" citizens. Unless we can put a punishment that is truly a deterrent to crime, how can we limit the occurrences of these crimes?

I have never been so disgusted with the "liberal establishment" as I am today.
